Evolution - Rio Madrid 6 - 0
Unfortunately we lost another game. The good news is that we conceded just 6 goals rather than 12 as last time. A little improvement of our defence even though our strikers were not able to score any goal this time for the absence of our best scorer Paul.

Akabusi FC - Rio Madrid 12 - 6
A terrible match was played today at Lords. First half was a disaster, with 5 goals of difference (6-1) even though one of them was an error of the referee !
Our team was not able to find the confidence to play as we had played last time. Our defense was literally swept away and we create very few occasions for scoring a goal.
During the second half the team improved a bit but nothing could be done to stop the opponent team.
Performance was not very good for everybody but the good news are:
Alex is recovering from his 9 year hibernation, playing much better than his first match;
James scored three goals today: two of them were very powerful free kicks !
Paul was active as usual even though he found the goal just twice (actually the second one was an own goal);
Robercal, our Brazilian, played a very good game. With his assists and his movement in the middle of the field he managed to control the team.
Robercarl was definitively the man of the match in spite of the bad result.
Unfortunately Niall lost one of his contact lenses during the match because he was hit by the ball and could not finish he match; and Micheal did not play as usual ... we expect more from you next time !
Thank you everybody for your contribution and I hope to win next time

Hardly Athletic - Rio Madrid 3 - 7
Awesome match yesterday night at Lords sporting club. Rio Madrid annihilated the opponent team with a great performance.
We welcome Robercarl that played his first match yesterday and will continue to play with us for the rest of the season.
Man of the match: It is quite hard to decide because everybody played very well. However, I think that Paul Hedley demonstrated something more. His speed and the feeling of goal are just some of the things that impressed us yetsterday night
Congratulation to Micheal and Paul that are our best scorers !

Two very promising performances so far gents, although last week was a loss I think we learnt a lot about how to play that style of soccer, especially setting up a wall quickly.
We also showed we have the potential to score goals which is a always a bonus. Start preparing for this weeks game!

Numbers for our shirts
Lords have said all players must be in correct uniform including numbers. Uniforms will be available in August and numbers will cost $8 each. Rio will cover the cost of the uniforms but unfortunately we have to pay the numbers.
I need to collect the money on Thursday !

Second Match
Unfortunately we lost the second game (7-5). However the team demostrated very good scoring skills with 5 goals scored, even though we missed a lot of opportunities. There had also been a lot of defensive mistakes and our opponet team was very solid with a very good understanding of each other, taking advantage of our mistakes.
Even though the result was not positive, I noticed a lot of margins of improvements and the people that played demonstrated a great potential.
Man of the match was Javier! Javier is visiting our Perth office from Simandou where he is working as senior hydrogeologist. He will help the team for another couple of games and I really hope to win next game !

First Match
Our first match was a great success (won 2-1) with two goals of Paul Hedley who is not in the picture :(
Congratulations to everybody!
Congratulations to everybody!
Soccer Rules at Lords

Game times: 6pm, 6.35pm, 7.10pm, 7.45pm, 8.20pm, 8.55pm, 9.30pm, 10.05pm.
Rule modifications
All rules per official 'FIFA (FUTSAL)’ rule book with Lords amendments as detailed in this document.
• Field markings are those of the netball court (approximately 30m x 15m)
• Accumulated fouls are not recorded, therefore walls can be set against all associated free kicks
• Green cards are given, where in the opinion of the official, the offending action does not warrant a red card.
• Refer to forfeit policy outlined below
Teams/players
• All players must be sixteen years or older to play in the senior competitions.
• A maximum of ten players per team (five playing/five substitutes). Minimum of three players to start the game.
• Mixed – a minimum of two females players must be on the court at all times (includes in goal).
• Sharp adornments, items of jewellery or other accessories, no matter what its made of, shall be removed or taped.
• Shin guards are highly recommended (not compulsory) and must be completely covered by the player’s socks.
• Fill in players may only come from one grade above and any lower grades from the grade you are playing.
• Players must have played a quarter of the regular season to qualify for finals.
• All players play at their own risk.
Uniforms
All players must be in singlet/t-shirt uniform by the fourth week of fixtures. Uniform to be of same colour and ‘shade’. Each player shall be numbered (numbered bibs are acceptable).
Penalties - 1 goal per player out of uniform. Penalties must be added before the commencement of the second half.
In the event of a uniform clash, the team mentioned second on the scoresheet shall wear coloured bibs provided by Lords.
Late arrivals Penalties
2 minutes late = 1 goal
Every additional minute thereafter = 1 goal
Penalties must be added before the commencement of the second half.
After the equivalent of one-quarter of the game time elapsing the official may declare the game a forfeit if a team can not field the minimum amount of players to start a game.
Cautions and dismissals
Umpires will be issued with yellow, red and green cards.
• A yellow card will constitute a warning.
• A green card, and the player will be sent from the court for the remainder of the game and no substitute can enter the game for two minutes or until a goal is scored. A yellow card (warning) does not need to precede a green card.
• The third card shown to the same player in one match shall be a red card.
• A red card and the player will be sent from the court for the duration of the game (no substitutes allowed) with an automatic
suspension of one (1) week minimum.
• A yellow or green card does not need to precede a red card.
• If the action warrants it, a report shall be made to the Coordinator of Sport and Competition and may result in longer suspension.
Forfeits
If a team can not field enough players for a fixtured game, it becomes a forfeit.
A score line of 5-0 will be recorded against the forfeiting team.

Rio Madrid Blog
I decided to crerate a blog for our soccer team because everybody can interact with the tema even though you are not playing every week and to provide you with some important communications regarding the league.
This bloq will also contain some pictures of the games we will play and comments. I really hope you like the idea and contribute to the development of the site.
